Nadia Elena Comaneci

In the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, the athlete made headlines after scoring the first ever perfect ten in sport's history. In addition, Comaneci also scored six perfect 10s, making her, at fourteen years old the youngest Olympic medalist across all categories. Nadia Comaneci has not only drawn attention in all directions however she also assisted Romania to find a spot on the map of international recognition. The sporting icon became a global sensation when she achieved an impossible performance. Her story became a legend, and helped popularize gymnastics around the globe. Additionally, it altered perception of women athletes by the public. Her impact on the Olympics was so powerful it is that 2 of her movements including the toe-on and release have been named after her. Both have been rated as difficult to the highest level. Apart from the Olympics, she showed remarkable performance at her participation in the World Championships and European Championships as well, thus becoming an icon in the sport and amongst the most well-known gymnasts that the world can ever be privileged to.
